Update (9:00 PM): Following storms that swept through the Chattanooga area both on both Saturday and Sunday evening, EPB is working as quickly as possible to restore power to about 500 customers who continue to experience outages due to damage to the system. Over the last two days, the Smart Grid has prevented outages or auto-restored power to about 10,100 customers. EPB will continue working until all customers have power. Please check back for additional information. You may also refer to the Outage Map or call EPB Customer Service, 423-648-1EPB (1372).
The EPB family and our customers contribute to community growth a number of different ways.
EPB’s customers help Chattanooga area families in need by paying critical utility bills including water, gas and electricity through our Power Share program. EPB customers can elect to contribute donations through their monthly electric power bills or by making a pledge. Every penny collected goes directly to United Way 2-1-1, which distributes the funds to qualifying families.
Our employees also volunteer their time and talents in the construction of new homes for local families through Habitat for Humanity. The program not only helps deserving families realize the dream of owning a home, but also provides one that is built with energy efficiency measures designed to reduce the costs of their monthly utility bills.
EPB employees and retirees consistently meet or exceed the fundraising goals we set for our annual United Way campaigns. In 2014, they raised more than $223,000, making EPB one of the largest contributors to the local United Way and the 50 agencies that it supports.
