Any EPB residential phone service can receive backup power.
EPB offers backup power solutions for phone customers available at time of purchase, whether this is creating a new account or adding phone lines to existing service.
In the event of a power outage:
Customers with EPB phone service cannot make or receive calls, including 911 calls, without a battery backup. EPB’s Battery Backup service provides up to 24 hours of phone service during a power outage.
EPB lets you add battery backup to your phone at time of purchase:
Whether that’s starting a new account or adding phone service to your existing fiber account. Batteries can be leased as a managed service for $20 a month, which includes replacements for malfunctioning or defunct batteries, or purchased for a one-time fee of $450. Purchased batteries do not include monitoring, maintenance, or replacement. Customers can purchase a replacement battery online or by contacting our customer service department.
Expected backup power duration:
Up to 24 hours under normal circumstances, duration may be impacted by usage and external factors such as temperature.
Proper usage and storage conditions:
EPB backup batteries have a typical lifespan of 8 to 10 years. This can be impacted by environmental factors, such as low power, frequent discharges, high temperatures, and extreme humidity. To ensure your battery backup performs as expected, please note the following:
