Why is EPB no longer offering Fi TV to new business customers?

As the cost of TV content continues to rise dramatically and more and more customers switch to streaming to save money, we want to help our business customers take full advantage of this trend and save money too. Our new EPB Managed Streaming TV solution gives you the video content you need to meet your business objectives while dramatically reducing or even eliminating your TV costs — including monthly plan costs, set top box rentals, annual rate increases and more. In fact, we can help you access streaming options that are absolutely free of charge. While we will no longer offer businesses a traditional TV product, we will work with you to select the video content that is best for your business, install the necessary equipment (a streaming device, internet and managed WiFi) for smooth, buffer-free streaming and provide ongoing technical support

I need another set top box for my business, can I get one?

Yes, if you are an existing Fi TV customer.

What is the username and password situation with free streaming apps?

Most of the free apps that we recommend do not require logins. However, it is up to you to manage credentials for any apps you choose to use or install. EPB will not be managing any app usernames or passwords.

Can I get TV for my restaurant bar?

At this time, we do not off a television solution with public viewing rights.

Can I get TV in my apartment and condo buildings?

Yes. We have Bulk TV Solutions for apartment and condo complexes that want to include a TV package as part of a tenant’s lease.

Can I get a wireless set top box with a DVR?

Unfortunately no. Set top boxes with a DVR must be wired directly to your television.

Can I get TV in my hotel or hospital rooms?

Yes. We offer a complete solution for hotels and hospitals that want to provide TV service to guests and patients.

Why fiber optics?

Fiber optic technology transmits information using laser-generated pulses of light that travel over hair-thin strands of glass fiber. Because light travels faster than anything else in the universe, fiber optics provide faster uploads and downloads while reducing network reaction times. Traditional communications companies use copper lines to transfer their signal to your home or business. EPB Fiber Optics is the area's only provider that uses 100% fiber optics.

Why can residential customers buy EPB video service, but business customers cannot?

As the TV industry shifts to streaming and prices for TV content continue to skyrocket, EPB is working with all of our customers to help them find their best fit for their TV needs at the best value. Although some content that residential TV customers expect is not available through free streaming services, most businesses are interested in broadly appealing TV content and many great options are now available at no charge. EPB Managed Streaming TV for Business also relieves business customers of the extra equipment and overhead — like set top boxes — that comes with traditional TV options. EPB’s new option allows us to provide better quality and value than the commercial video services we are sunsetting.

If I am an existing EPB Fi TV business customer, will you continue to support my service?

Yes. We will continue to provide our current Fi TV video customers with a quality TV product. We will be happy to discuss this new Managed Streaming TV for Business option with any customer who is interested in learning more. And, if this product is a good fit, we will be happy to help you make the switch, so you too can cut costs. We want to help our customers get the best value whether it is with our product or through a streaming solution.

Do I have to disconnect my Fi TV service at my business when it’s time re-sign another contract?

No. If you already subscribe to Fi TV you can keep it. You can re-term your fiber services, but Fi TV is not a contractual service. However, you may want to consider moving to this new Managed Streaming TV for Business. We are happy to talk with you to see if this is a good option that would meet your needs while saving you money. Please see your Terms & Conditions for details of EPB Fiber Optics services.

I was offered a TV service; can I still add it to my current services now?

We no longer offer the traditional Fi TV service to business customers, but we’re happy to talk with you about the new Managed Streaming TV for Business which is an excellent choice for most businesses — and could save you money.

Does the VVX 350 support electronic hook switch capabilities?

Yes, the VVX 350 supports electronic hook switch capabilities with certain GN Netcom/Jabra, Logitech, Plantronics, and Sennheiser brand headsets. For more information, refer to a list of all the compatibility headsets on the Support Site.

Do I have to have EPB FiSpeed Internet to subscribe to either EPB Fi TV for Business service or EPB Managed TV for business?

Yes, both options require you to subscribe to EPB’s business internet 300 or higher.

I need another set-top box for my business television service, can I get one?

Because existing set top box technology is aging and will soon be outdated, we will no longer supply additional set top boxes for customers on our older platform of business television service. However, we are happy to work with you to transition you to either the newest Fi TV for Business or our free Managed Streaming TV for Business solution.

Do I need faster internet to subscribe to an EPB television solution at my business?

Depending on your business needs, and all the internet devices you are running in your business, you may need to increase your bandwidth package or upgrade your Wi-Fi product. Our trained business solutions experts can talk to you and help you determine your business needs and make suggestions that fit your specific requirements. In most cases, even if there is a need to upgrade your internet, you will save money overall.

I purchased additional TVs at my business and want EPB to connect additional devices. What is the fee?

Once you have your Fi TV for Business account established for the first time, installing other devices is a matter of signing into the device, downloading the app, and connected to your Wi-Fi network. If you subscribe to an EPB Managed Wi-Fi service, we will be happy to assist you in installing another device at no charge. Most of the time we can assist you over the phone, but if we cannot resolve or help you over the phone, we will roll a truck. A $9 installation fee applies if we must set up the device onsite and you do not subscribe to a managed Wi-Fi service. However, there is no charge if we talk over the phone.
