The smart grid and fast reliable internet access brought economic and social benefits to Chattanooga. In the first decade of operation, the grid generated $2.7 billion in community value, according to a study conducted by The University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. That value included the creation of nearly 10,000 jobs and a 55% reduction in power outages.
