Harnessing the Power of the Sun
Solar Share™ puts cleaner energy in more homes.
In partnership with TVA, we launched Chattanooga’s first community solar project in 2017—a 4,400-panel array generating 1.3 megawatts of clean energy. It’s an easy, affordable alternative to rooftop solar panels—with no large investment or upfront costs.
Coming in 2028: 33 megawatts of additional solar.
Even more solar power is headed to Chattanooga from West Tennessee, thanks to a partnership with TVA and Silicon Ranch. This agreement enables EPB to keep energy rates lower over time. It’s all part of a larger effort to keep energy costs down and boost reliability.
Innovating through microgrids and storage.
Through solar-powered microgrids and battery storage, we’re helping keep vital services running during emergencies. The Chattanooga Police Services Center and Fire Department HQ can operate indefinitely during a power emergency, while 2.73 megawatts of solar at the airport can power critical systems—like runway lights and navigation—and can even support a nearby neighborhood if needed.

An energy grid so advanced, it’s reducing air pollution.
The nation’s most advanced energy grid not only optimizes energy delivery, it also reduces emissions by minimizing the miles our crews drive. In fact, each year, the impact is like the air quality benefits we get from over 3,400 acres of forests—about the size of Georgia’s Cloudland Canyon State Park!
Free EV charging & investments in infrastructure.
When people decide to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), we’re here to help. In addition to providing information, we help make everyday lives easier by providing free charging stations downtown. In fact, we recently invested in additional chargers, bringing the total to more than 30.
Beautify Our Land
Reductions in waste going to landfills.
Customers are enabling us to make an impact by helping recycle nearly 60 tons of wood chips every week from downed trees, wooden power poles, and more. As a result, EPB has earned TVA EnergyRight® Solutions Top Performer awards in five categories. Our efforts include:
