Your heating and air system is your home’s #1 energy user, accounting for more than 40% of your annual energy costs. So, if your HVAC is more than 10 years old, or isn’t doing its job heating and cooling your home, it’s probably time to upgrade to a new, high-efficiency HVAC system – and earn up to $1,500 in rebates.
*Rebates are now available through the EnergyRight® Residential Services program brought to you by EPB and TVA. Rebates are available on qualifying measures installed by a member of our Quality Contractor Network (QCN). Beginning October 1, 2023, QCN members must initiate your rebate claim within 30 days of completing your project by submitting qualifying measures on your behalf to TVA.
For the highest energy efficiency and best rebates, it’s important to choose an HVAC system with a minimum of 14.2 SEER2 efficiency rating. As you’ll see below, the higher the SEER2 rating, the less energy the system needs to keep your home comfortable – and the greater the annual energy cost savings.
These figures represent the expected overall performance and operating costs of a 3-ton HVAC unit at $.11 per kilowatt hour, based on average weather and location for one year. Operating costs vary depending on climate conditions, home characteristics, energy rates, and usage patterns. Savings not guaranteed.

1 Must be installed by an approved Quality Contractor Network member and meet EPB and TVA standards effective on installation date. All measures, except window replacement, eligible for TVA program financing.
2 Rebates are available for qualifying HVAC equipment when the primary heating/cooling source does not change. Acceptable replacements are: Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) to ASHP, ASHP to Dual-Fuel Heat Pump (DFHP), DFHP to DFHP, DFHP to ASHP, ASHP to Mini Split. Electric furnace may be replaced by an electric heat pump. For gas furnaces with electric air conditioning, only the A/C portion will qualify for a rebate. There are no rebates paid for gas heating.
3 Must replace existing unit(s).
4 Must replace existing primary electric heat source.
5 Defined as a minimum 15.2 SEER2 and 8.1 HSPF2 or higher all-electric heat pump with a variable speed compressor, excluding two-stage compressors, system produces 100% of rated heating capacity without backup heat at 17 degrees F, cooling capacity cannot exceed 125% of colling load at design conditions, and is installed by a manufacturer certified installer. Quality Contractor Network installer must provide Manual J Load Calculation 8th edition with project submission.
6 One HVAC tune-up per system, per year, electric systems only.
