EPB named TVA EnergyRight® top performer in Tennessee Valley

Chattanooga, TN (July 9, 2021) – EPB has been named as a top performer in the Tennessee Valley Authority seven state region when it comes to helping our customers save money and energy through the TVA EnergyRight program.

“EPB is being recognized as a top performer in twelve categories related to electrification, energy efficiency and renewables, making EPB the most recognized local power company in the Tennessee Valley,” said Cindy Herron, vice president of TVA EnergyRight.

TVA EnergyRight, in partnership with local power companies, work together to offer innovative and valuable programs to residents and businesses in the Tennessee Valley.

EPB was the top performer in the Tennessee Valley in three categories. We helped our customers save 18.5 million kWh, making us the number one local power company when it comes to total energy saved across all TVA EnergyRight programs.

“EPB provides the staffing, promotion and resources to ensure that customers are aware of and can participate in energy efficiency measures to save money on their electric bills,” said Herron. “We are very proud of this great accomplishment and are very excited about what lies ahead in this rapidly changing energy marketplace.”

EPB also helped our residential customers top the list by saving 428,823 kWh after attending Home Energy Workshops.

“TVA EnergyRight and EPB partner to offer free Home Energy Workshops. This year we worked together to make them virtual, making it possible for residents to learn about home energy use remotely,” said John Watts, EPB Energy Pro. “When more people know about all the money-saving tips and energy conservation assistance to them, everyone in the Tennessee Valley wins.”

EPB also helped our industrial customers top the list by saving 29.4 million kWh after learning information through the TVA EnergyRight Industry - Smart Energy Technologies program.

“Maximizing efficiency for industrial power users makes a big impact,” said Watts. “EPB and TVA EnergyRight work with industrial users to create customized, plantwide approaches that help them control expenses, boost their bottom lines and use energy more efficiently.”

EPB was also recognized for helping our customers save 127,696 kWh through our Home Uplift program and 141,143 kWh through our DIY Home Energy Assessments.

“Through these energy savings, we are positioning TVA, our local power companies and our customers for the changing energy industry – one driven by evolving consumer habits and new technologies,” said Herron.
