EPB promotes Marie Webb to Senior VP Human Resources and Chief Talent & Inclusion Officer

Chattanooga, TN (July 16, 2020) – EPB has announced Marie Webb’s promotion to Senior Vice President Human Resources and Chief Talent & Inclusion Officer. In her expanded role, Webb will have responsibility for leading Diversity & Inclusion and Community Workforce partnerships in addition to her existing responsibilities in leading Human Resources.

According to David Wade, president & CEO of EPB, the promotion reflects Webb’s continuing efforts in developing and recruiting a talented and diverse workforce along with EPB’s increased focus on these areas.

“As part of our mission to enhance quality of life for the people we serve, it’s critical that EPB’s workforce genuinely reflects and benefits from richness and diversity of our whole community,” Wade said. “Marie has led the way with a number of innovative projects like EPB’s Future Ready Institute of Technology and Networking at Tyner Academy as well as our On-Ramp program at Chattanooga State to provide opportunities for working adults to develop their skills.”

Wade also pointed out that the time was right to build on previous efforts. “At a time, when our community is striving to face issues of racial injustice more honestly, EPB is re-doubling our diversity and inclusion efforts with added focus under Marie’s leadership,” Wade said.

In her new role, Webb plans to build on previous efforts. “I am particularly energized by initiatives that help close the talent gap by supporting local people in developing the skills they need to advance in their careers,” Webb said. “From working with students and adults through community-based talent development initiatives to building stronger career development ladders within EPB, we want to create a holistic approach to inclusive talent development and recruitment.”

Webb joined EPB in 2009, bringing 15 years of human resources experience at the Staples Corporation, the Social Security Administration, and Premier Manufacturing. Originally from Ohio, Marie received her Bachelor’s degree from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and her Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Webb participated in Harvard Business School’s Young American Leaders Program, which brings together leaders from across the country to study and explore community collaborations. In addition to her degrees, she holds numerous Human Resources and behavioral certifications. Marie is currently a member of the First Things First Board of Directors (former Board Chair), the Public Education Foundation, Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, and serves as a Trustee on the UC Foundation at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Helping others identify, strengthen, and use their God-given talents to inspire change is Marie’s true passion. Marie and her husband, Aaron, have three daughters and love calling Chattanooga “home.”
