Fiber optic technology transmits information using laser-generated pulses of light that travel over hair-thin strands of glass fiber. Because light travels faster than anything else in the universe, fiber optics provide faster uploads and downloads while reducing network reaction times. Traditional communications companies use copper lines to transfer their signal to your home or business. EPB Fiber Optics is the area's only provider that uses 100% fiber optics.
As the cost of TV content continues to rise dramatically and more and more customers switch to streaming to save money, we want to help our business customers take full advantage of this trend and save money too. Our new EPB Managed Streaming TV solution gives you the video content you need to meet your business objectives while dramatically reducing or even eliminating your TV costs — including monthly plan costs, set top box rentals, annual rate increases and more. In fact, we can help you access streaming options that are absolutely free of charge. While we will no longer offer businesses a traditional TV product, we will work with you to select the video content that is best for your business, install the necessary equipment (a streaming device, internet and managed WiFi) for smooth, buffer-free streaming and provide ongoing technical support
You will need to have EPB Fiber Optics internet and one of our managed WiFi solutions. We recommend either our Smart Network for Business or our Hosted WiFi product. Both WiFi solutions offer the right router and equipment, professionally installed and optimized for peak performance, plus ongoing technical support at no additional cost. We’ll help you determine the best solution for your business.
We’ll also help you discover the hundreds of free streaming apps available with all types of programming from News and Weather, Home and Garden, DIY, Health and Wellness, Comedy, Movies, Sitcoms, Latino, Kids, Sports, News, Westerns, Classics and more. Once you choose the content you want, you can either purchase your own Roku® streaming devices or you can buy them from EPB. We will install the Roku devices on your televisions, download the selected apps, set up each of your TVs and show you how to use them. All apps will be set up directly with the streaming app provider and your business — not through EPB. If you choose to purchase an app vs. select a free service, you will be responsible for paying for the streaming service directly. The Roku devices are very affordable, $40-50 per device.
If you choose only content provided by free streaming services, then once your Managed Streaming TV for Business solution and chosen apps are installed you would no longer have a monthly TV package subscription – which can save you money every month.
Roku has a customizable interface and is the easiest to use in a business setting because it allows you to set up multiple devices and synchronize changes on all of them instantly. You can keep unauthorized people from making unwanted changes with security settings, and you can easily add channels and apps from your computer. You can download the Roku app and use a smartphone as the remote control. Roku also allows us to customize the home screen with just the apps you select.
The only upfront cost is the purchase of your Roku® devices, which you can order from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, or you can buy them through EPB for the same retail cost. If you choose to purchase them through EPB, you can pay for them on your monthly bill spread over a 6-month period. If you choose this option, it will be part of your purchase agreement/proposal and will appear on your bill each month until the equipment is paid for in full. There is an activation cost of $9.00 per device — which can also be billed over the 6-month period — so switching to the new solution does not require any upfront out of pocket expense.
As the TV industry shifts to streaming and prices for TV content continue to skyrocket, EPB is working with all of our customers to help them find their best fit for their TV needs at the best value. Although some content that residential TV customers expect is not available through free streaming services, most businesses are interested in broadly appealing TV content and many great options are now available at no charge. EPB Managed Streaming TV for Business also relieves business customers of the extra equipment and overhead — like set top boxes — that comes with traditional TV options. EPB’s new option allows us to provide better quality and value than the commercial video services we are sunsetting.
Yes. We will continue to provide our current Fi TV video customers with a quality TV product. We will be happy to discuss this new Managed Streaming TV for Business option with any customer who is interested in learning more. We want to help our customers get the best value whether it is with our product or through a streaming solution.
No. If you already subscribe to Fi TV you can keep it. You can re-term your fiber services, but Fi TV is not a contractual service. However, you may want to consider moving to this new Managed Streaming TV for Business. We are happy to talk with you to see if this is a good option that would meet your needs while saving you money. Please see your Terms & Conditions for details of EPB Fiber Optics services.
There is no ongoing cost, but a one-time $9 activation charge, per device and the initial cost of the Roku® streaming device. Additionally, EPB can sell you the Roku® streaming stick® at our cost, and you can spread that cost out on your monthly bill for up to 6 months.
We no longer offer the traditional Fi TV service to business customers, but we’re happy
to talk with you about the new Managed Streaming TV for Business which is an excellent
choice for most businesses — and could save you money.
EPB will sell the Roku® stick at EPB’s cost of $40. If you choose, EPB can spread the cost of the Roku sticks out on your monthly bill for up to 6 months. This option eliminates paying the full amount of the Roku sticks upfront and allows the cost to be broken out on your bill in monthly increments (up to maximum of 6 months). Furthermore, once the Roku stick(s) are paid in full, the charge will no longer show on your bill.
Installation can take less than 15 minutes. Once you have one Roku device, the setup for any other device is less than a few minutes. The other devices must be plugged in, connected to WiFi and signed into your account. One great thing about Roku is everything is at the account level, so once your account is set up for the first time with the desired apps, onboarding other devices is easy.
EPB is available 24x7x365 for technical support from our team of Tech Pro experts.
EPB’s return policy is outlined in the proposal you received when purchasing the device(s). All Roku purchases are final, and no returns will be accepted. If the device is defective, you will need to utilize the Roku warranty.
Since you are purchasing the Roku stick, the Roku warranty applies. EPB does not

You can add apps from your Roku account page online or on the device itself. Any apps added will add automatically to all Roku devices logged into your Roku account.
