All of EPB’s equipment is housed in a state-of-art data center that is a “bunker” type building which was built specifically to withstand major disasters. So, if another carrier experiences a disaster there could be issues completing calls outside of EPB’s calling area. Firmware upgrades are done for purposes of service improvements or end-user functionality improvements. All upgrades are done behind the scenes. The user will be contacted via the app store and/or email that an upgrade has been issued along with instructions.
If you are a resident of an Assisted Living facility, you need to contact your facility’s Hosted Phone for Seniors internal phone plan administrator with questions regarding your phone and it’s features. Your facility’s staff have been trained by EPB to handle any issues you may have. Yes, if you applied online at AffordableConnectivity.gov or by mail and have been approved, forward your National Verifier application ID to EPB Customer Service. EPB representatives will add this discount to your account and email you when completed. If you are already approved for Lifeline, there is no need to re-apply for ACP. You’re automatically eligible. Let us know you already have Lifeline, we’ll verify it and apply your ACP benefit.
Timeshift (with the Ultimate Features package) allows you to rewind live programming or restart a program up to 24 hours later. This feature is available on up to 25 popular channels, depending on the channel package you subscribe to. However, our EPB Fi TV app lets you restart live programs over from the beginning and replay programs for up to 3 days after they air on most channels.
No. You must have EPB Fi-Speed Internet for Business to be eligible for Smart Net Plus for Business Wi-Fi service. Smart Net Plus for Business Wi-Fi can be added to your EPB business internet for a separate cost of $25 more per month.
Yes. As long as you are logged into a device you are using a stream. To free up streams, simply log out of devices. To sign out of Fi TV on that device, click “sign out” at the bottom of your Profile screen.
Yes, there will be a charge of $100 for each router/extender you do not return.
Yes. Please contact EPB at 423-648-1500 immediately if your device is stolen. We can disable the account to prevent access to your number. If your device was logged out of the account, the user must have the user name and password in order to authorize use. But our recommendation is to contact us, so we can disable the account and avoid any usage.

Having someone at home also gives us the opportunity to test your service to ensure you get great coverage after installation. EPB will sell the Roku® stick at EPB’s cost of $40. If you choose, EPB can spread the cost of the Roku sticks out on your monthly bill for up to 6 months. This option eliminates paying the full amount of the Roku sticks upfront and allows the cost to be broken out on your bill in monthly increments (up to maximum of 6 months). Furthermore, once the Roku stick(s) are paid in full, the charge will no longer show on your bill.
Each time you turn on your TV, you will be on the home screen of your streaming device – which gives you quick access to Fi TV and other apps like Netflix and Hulu. To access Fi TV, simply click the Fi TV icon to start watching – like you would to watch Netflix or Hulu.

You can save video clips up to 1-hour in length to your vault. For example, if you wanted to save an entire day of recording, you would need to upload 24 separate 1-hour clips.
Once you have your Fi TV for Business account established for the first time, installing other devices is a matter of signing into the device, downloading the app, and connected to your Wi-Fi network. If you subscribe to an EPB Managed Wi-Fi service, we will be happy to assist you in installing another device at no charge. Most of the time we can assist you over the phone, but if we cannot resolve or help you over the phone, we will roll a truck. A $9 installation fee applies if we must set up the device onsite and you do not subscribe to a managed Wi-Fi service. However, there is no charge if we talk over the phone.

In most cases, yes. If you are using a current Fire TV Stick or Apple TV you can use that device’s remote for everything without having to change inputs between apps. Unfortunately no. Exisiting DVR recordings do not transfer over. The settings for future recordings will transfer over, but you will loose previously recorded content. Setting up a home Wi-Fi network is the perfect way to share the internet throughout your home on various connected devices, and it’s as easy as purchasing a wireless router.
For our 300 Mbps Internet service, we recommend an “80.11n dual band” router. These routers allow access to connections from 2.4Ghz up to 5Ghz and range in price from $80 to $100 at most electronics retailers.
For our Gig customers, we highly recommend a Wi-Fi 6 “802.11ax” router. This is the next generation in Wi-Fi technology capable of delivering gig speeds and handling the growing number of devices in your home. They range in price from $120 to over $450. Plug the wireless router into the indoor modem box EPB-installed Ethernet wall outlet using a Cat5 Ethernet cable (included with the router) and then simply follow the instructions provided by the router manufacturer on setting up your own home WiFi network.
Yes. EPB requires you to have an EPB Fiber Optics for Business internet connection to add this solution to your account. EPB offers two levels of internet (Standard and Professional) and an array of different speeds that will meet any size business needs.
On mobile devices, open the app and choose your profile icon to launch Fi TV. On the Home screen, you’ll see your profile’s personalized viewing experience, including DVR recordings, suggested shows and movies, “resume watching” functionality and more. Keep in mind that while logged in on a device, you are using a stream. You can watch Fi TV live if you are within your home's WiFi network. Outside of your home's WiFi network, you can only watch DVR recordings and on demand content. However, you can start recording a program from your mobile device and begin watching it away from home five minutes later. And if you are not logged into a WiFi network at all then cellular data fees may apply.

You can use the voice control on applicable device remotes (like Amazon Fire TV Stick and Apple TV) to search for programs by title within Fi TV's “search” screen. If your streaming device remote has voice control, then all standard commands associated with that device will work as usual.

You will either have SimRing or Find Me/Follow Me depending upon your level of service. Only one of these features may be used at one time. No. Smart Net Plus is an upgraded quality of service with different equipment. The HomePass app, router, extenders and other premium features only work with the new Smart Net Plus service and equipment. Our Smart Net Basic solution is best for smaller spaces and for those who don’t stream on multiple screens or use any smart home devices.
There is a maximum of 100 messages that can be saved at any given time. You can delete a message over the phone by following the prompts after you listen to the message. If you are out of storage, your caller will get the message “mailbox is full.” Therefore, it’s always a good idea to delete messages after listening to them.
Most devices do not currently support 2.5 Gig speeds. However, if you have a device that is capable of reaching 2.5 Gig speeds over a LAN connection, here are two solutions we recommend:
Option 1: Disconnect the router and connect your device directly to your wall’s ethernet jack using a cat5e ethernet cable (or better). If you don’t have one, let us know — our EPB Tech Pros can provide one by request during your installation. The downside is that your other devices won’t be able to connect to Wi-Fi while your router is unplugged.
Option 2: Research and purchase a personal network device with LAN ports that will deliver 2.5 Gig speeds.
As an addition to your EPB business internet, Smart Net Plus for Business is just $25 more per month with our standard router, plus $10 more per month for an additional Access Point (if necessary).
When your business signs a product contract with EPB Fiber Optics, you are essentially locking in your rate (with the exception of Fi TV). Your rate will stay the same through the end of your contract for EPB Hosted Camera. However, if we do have to take a rate increase (due to rising costs) we always provide ample notice to our customers before making any changes and the price will only go into effect once your contract expires.

If you voluntarily discontinue your EPB Hosted Camera account, your recordings are deleted from the cloud-based vault. However, if you are disconnected due to a non-payment on your account, recordings will be retained, and your account restricted until payment is made.
You can add apps from your Roku account page online or on the device itself. Any apps added will add automatically to all Roku devices logged into your Roku account. You can search for specific apps or browse by category. Once you find an app, click the button to download and install on your device. Then simply fill out any required fields to sign up and start enjoying the free content. It’s that easy. And if you like, one of our Tech Pros will walk you through this over the phone.

Installation can take less than 15 minutes. Once you have one Roku device, the setup for any other device is less than a few minutes. The other devices must be plugged in, connected to WiFi and signed into your account. One great thing about Roku is everything is at the account level, so once your account is set up for the first time with the desired apps, onboarding other devices is easy.
For the Gig, we suggest a Wi-Fi router that says it's "Gig-capable, such as a dual band “802.11ac” router. In fact, an 802.11ac router is best for maximum performance at any speed – especially in larger homes with multiple internet devices and users. Avoid any products that say "modem" or "cable modem" as these products will not work with fiber optics technology. Gig2.5 comes with EPB Smart Net Plus Wi-Fi included.

EPB will replace any non-working cameras, but theft or vandalization of EPB equipment would be the sole responsibility of the customer. However, if a camera is vandalized or stolen, since the camera is always recording, you should be able to get a video of the event up to when the camera goes offline. EPB will bill the customer for the unreturned rate of the cameras, and then we can re-install new ones, if you like. Most businesses carry insurance, and these types of instances are most often covered. However, talk with your insurance company to get specifics on what is covered under your policy.
Yes, both options require you to subscribe to EPB’s business internet 300 or higher.
Smart Net Plus will support speeds of up to 2.5 Gigs to the router connected to your Ethernet port. However, your Wi-Fi speed is always a little bit slower than hard-wired speed. While your internet connection is providing top speeds to your home, it’s important to remember that each of your devices has different capabilities. The age and model of your device may limit the speed to a lower number than your home receives. For example, an iPhone 8 can only download at 867 Mbps in perfect conditions, an iPhone 7 at 450 Mbps and an iPhone 6 at 300 Mbps — these speeds cannot increase past these maximums no matter how fast your internet is.

Each handset has a $25 recurring monthly fee. The resident or facility can choose what handset they want in each room. If at any time there is a problem with the phone itself, EPB will replace it no questions asked.

If you currently receive a Lifeline benefit, you automatically qualify for the ACP, and you can receive both benefits at the same time. Both benefits can be applied to the same qualifying service or separately with the same or different providers. You may be de-enrolled from ACP for various reasons, including the following:
To activate parental controls, go to PROFILES, select settings, then parental controls and assign a PIN number. This will automatically activate parental controls on all devices associated with your Fi TV account. To deactivate parental controls, go to settings, parental controls, and choose restrict mature content. You must type in your PIN number to turn Parental Controls off, or back on. If a resident moves to another room, EPB can come out and relocate their number. If at any time you need to disconnect a resident's phone, just call EPB and we can remove the charge and plan to have the equipment returned. If you approve, a resident may take their Hosted Phone for Seniors number with them to another carrier or facility.
It depends on several factors. EPB creates a separate internet connection that is locked down for security reasons, so your phone service does share your business internet connection. If the on-premises internet connection has issues due to your equipment failure, the phones would continue to work. However, if an internet outage is an external issue, then phone service may cease to work until the outage is resolved. The root of the problem determines if any phone outage will occur. EPB is available 24/7/365 to take any trouble calls and dispatch a technician to your business, if needed.

There are many reasons why you may not be achieving Gigabit speeds. Let's start by pointing out that the best way to get the maximum internet speed is to connect your computer directly to the EPB Fiber Optics jack using a Cat 5e ethernet wire. Keep in mind that advertised speeds can rarely be achieved on WiFi because the signal strength diluted over a wireless network. If you're using a WiFi router, there are several factors that can affect your performance. The age and type of wireless router, as well as its placement in your home are determining factors of speed and performance. And, like all technology, wireless routers are continually improved and updated for better performance. If you're using older equipment that wasn't made to handle such speeds, we recommend that you upgrade your router and computer if necessary.

Speed tests are always most accurate at the ethernet cord coming into the home, due to the many variables involved in wireless speed testing. The original Fi TV platform is obsolete because the equipment required to support it is no longer available. Currently the EPB Fi TV app does not support live viewing out of home. Most channels have video on demand content that is available out of home, and you can access many channels remotely through the network app on EPB2Go.com. Also, please keep in mind that with the optional Unlimited DVR, you can watch any show you have recorded any time, any place, on any device. So, if you are planning to be away from home when a show airs — you can schedule a recording and then watch it later, or even as it “records.” Plus, since the storage is unlimited, you can record as many shows as you want and keep them for nine months.

During this time, we will discuss what your business video surveillance needs are, and how EPB Hosted Camera can meet those needs. After a site survey is complete, we will send you a final proposal that outlines the proposed solution and charges. You will need to accept this proposal via your electronic signature. First, our technicians will make a “pre-installation consultation” to assess certain aspects of your home. This includes discovering the locations and specifications of your computer and router (if you have a wireless network) to ensure both will deliver that kind of speed. We will determine the best path to run new Ethernet wiring, which is required to handle 10-Gig Internet. And, we will work with you to determine the best possible location for the special ONT box we will need to install inside of your home in order for you to receive 10-Gig service. Afterwards, we will schedule the actual installation with you for another time. Both visits can be scheduled at your convenience.

Once you choose the content you want, you can either purchase your own Roku® streaming devices or you can buy them from EPB. We will install the Roku devices on your televisions, download the selected apps, set up each of your TVs and show you how to use them. All apps will be set up directly with the streaming app provider and your business — not through EPB. If you choose to purchase an app vs. select a free service, you will be responsible for paying for the streaming service directly. The Roku devices are very affordable, $40-50 per device.
