If Congress decides to provide more funding for the ACP, the FCC will provide EPB with further guidance and instructions on how the ACP will proceed at that time.
Once you notify EPB to transfer your internet service to a new location, we will schedule a new installation appointment to re-install your EPB Smart Net Plus equipment.
If you are moving out of our network area and will no longer be an EPB customer, your Smart Net Plus equipment will need to be returned. There will be a $100 charge for each router/extender that is not returned.
If you do not already do so, get in the habit of dialing 10 digits for all calls before August 5, 2025. You should also be sure that your phone number includes the area code anywhere you have given your contact information, including doctor’s offices. You should also be sure any items such as business cards, stationery, pet tags, etc. include the area code on your phone number. In addition, be sure that any equipment or software is updated to accommodate 10-digit dialing.

If you purchased a wireless router on your own, a quick Google search of the make and model number (indicated on your router) will determine if its frequency matches “802.11n” or “802.11ac”.
Smart Net Plus comes with up to three WiFi extenders that transmit your signal to provide complete coverage in most homes. If your home requires more WiFi extenders for expanded coverage, additional pods will add $4.99 each, per month to your monthly subscription.
Your EPB Tech Pro will make sure you have the right number of extenders for complete coverage in your home for all your devices. If you experience any deadzones or areas with weakened signal, an EPB Tech Pro will visit your home and correct the issue at no extra charge.
Keep routers away from microwave ovens, wireless phones and other major appliances. Also, locating your router near brick walls, floors, ceilings and other obstacles that can impede the signal. Also, change the router channel from the factory default setting to another option in order to differentiate your signal from those of your neighbors.
Unfortunately, no. You can Replay a show up to three days after they air but you cannot record them after they have originally aired. You have to set-up programs to be recorded beforehand, or you may be able to find the program again in the "shows" or "movies" listings.

The Fi TV Entertainment Box is a device that looks and functions like a set top box, but gives you access to the Fi TV App as well as other popular streaming apps like Prime Video, Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max and more — all on the same screen. You don’t have to switch inputs between the Fi TV Entertainment Box and your other streaming devices, and one remote controls everything.
EPB email accounts allow storage of up to 10 gigabytes free.
Most devices do not currently support 2.5 Gig speeds. However, if you have a device that is capable of reaching 2.5 Gig speeds over a LAN connection, here are two solutions we recommend:
Option 1: Disconnect the router and connect your device directly to your wall’s ethernet jack using a cat5e ethernet cable (or better). If you don’t have one, let us know — our EPB Tech Pros can provide one by request during your installation. The downside is that your other devices won’t be able to connect to Wi-Fi while your router is unplugged.
Option 2: Subscribe to EPB Smart Net Plus managed WiFi that includes a router with a 10 Gig LAN port that will deliver 2.5 Gig speeds.

Since every EPB Electric Power customer account uses power before the first bill is received, we require an initial deposit of $200.00 to cover the cost of this power. However, all new applicants for service undergo a review of their credit history and those with a satisfactory credit rating may have the deposit waived or billed on the first month's bill. Customers with less than satisfactory credit will be required to pay a deposit in advance. Deposits may be paid using Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, debit card or cash in person at one of our three convenient locations and must be paid before electric service can be connected.

Lifeline is a government assistance program which provides eligible low-income subscribers an opportunity to receive the Lifeline benefit on certain voice and broadband internet access services. Like ACP, the Lifeline benefit is nontransferable, only eligible consumers may enroll in the program, and the program is limited to one Lifeline benefit per household.
If you currently receive a Lifeline benefit, you automatically qualify for the ACP, and you can receive both benefits at the same time. Both benefits can be applied to the same qualifying service or separately with the same or different providers. For example, an eligible household could have a Lifeline-supported wireless phone service and a separate home internet service that is supported through the Affordable Connectivity Program.

On mobile devices, open the app and choose your profile icon to launch Fi TV. On the Home screen, you’ll see your profile’s personalized viewing experience, including DVR recordings, suggested shows and movies, “resume watching” functionality and more. Keep in mind that while logged in on a device, you are using a stream. You can watch Fi TV live if you are within your home's WiFi network. Outside of your home's WiFi network, you can only watch DVR recordings and on demand content. However, you can start recording a program from your mobile device and begin watching it away from home five minutes later. And if you are not logged into a WiFi network at all then cellular data fees may apply.
No. Because the EPB Fi TV app is delivered over the internet, it works on all kinds of internet-connected devices without the need for a set top box. Everyone making calls in the local area will be required to dial 10 digits for all calls, including local calls starting in August of 2025. However, if you already have a phone line using a 423 area code, your number will not change. Only new phone lines established after March 5, 2025, may have a 729 area code.

Yes. You can remotely review your parental controls in the HomePass app, even when away from your home network. You can enable notifications that alert you if anyone tries to access prohibited parental control settings. You can even see who has been using your network — Smart Net Plus keeps a record of all the devices that have connected to your network.

Unfortunately no. The Fi TV Entertainment Box does not currently support Netflix. But if you have Netflix now, you can continue to watch it using your current smart TV or streaming device. If you are currently enrolled in Lifeline, you generally do not need to apply separately for the Affordable Connectivity Program. Yes. A letter of reference from your previous utility may serve in place of a security deposit. Letters must be printed on the utility’s letterhead, authorized by a company official, less than six months old and include a good record of payment for at least 12 months. Also, a co-signer (or guarantor) who is an existing EPB Electric Power customer with a good payment record for at least 12 months may serve in place of a security deposit. The guarantor will be asked to sign an agreement that will remain in effect for one year.

For example, if you contact EPB and sign up on July 15 for a panel, you will see the CHARGE on your AUGUST invoice (the next month and all following months). The CREDIT will appear on your SEPTEMBER invoice (approximately 2 months after you sign up and all following months). Why? During the first month after your purchase, your panel is generating electricity. That generation is accumulated throughout the month and then credited on your next bill. If a customer opts for the multi-year license, this is a one-time only charge.

Smart Net Plus will support speeds of up to 2.5 Gigs to the router connected to your Ethernet port. However, your WiFi speed is always a little bit slower than hard-wired speed. While your internet connection is providing top speeds to your home, it’s important to remember that each of your devices has different capabilities. The age and model of your device may limit the speed to a lower number than your home receives. For example, an iPhone 8 can only download at 867 Mbps in perfect conditions, an iPhone 7 at 450 Mbps and an iPhone 6 at 300 Mbps — these speeds cannot increase past these maximums no matter how fast your internet is.

There are many reasons why you may not be achieving Gigabit speeds. Let's start by pointing out that the best way to get the maximum internet speed is to connect your computer directly to the EPB Fiber Optics jack using a Cat 5e ethernet wire. Keep in mind that advertised speeds can rarely be achieved on WiFi because the signal strength diluted over a wireless network. If you're using a WiFi router, there are several factors that can affect your performance. The age and type of wireless router, as well as its placement in your home are determining factors of speed and performance. And, like all technology, wireless routers are continually improved and updated for better performance. If you're using older equipment that wasn't made to handle such speeds, we recommend that you upgrade your router and computer if necessary.
If your power is disconnected for nonpayment, a fee of $35.00 is required to reconnect. Pre-Pay Power accounts may be reconnected by bringing your Pre-Pay Power balance up to at least $50. No reconnection fee is required and services can be reconnected in minutes.
You can use the voice control on applicable device remotes (like Amazon Fire TV Stick and Apple TV) to search for programs by title within Fi TV's “search” screen. If your streaming device remote has voice control, then all standard commands associated with that device will work as usual.
If you would like to dispute an EPB Electric Power bill that you think is in error, please contact us at (423) 648-1372. We will not disconnect service for nonpayment of the amount in dispute if you notify us before the bill is past due and you pay all undisputed charges before their due date.
If service is disconnected due to nonpayment, we require that all past due balances be paid as well as any reconnection fees and security deposits.
To activate parental controls, go to PROFILES, select settings, then parental controls and assign a PIN number. This will automatically activate parental controls on all devices associated with your Fi TV account. To deactivate parental controls, go to settings, parental controls, and choose restrict mature content. You must type in your PIN number to turn Parental Controls off, or back on. If you forget your PIN, you will then need to call EPB Fiber Optics at 423-648-1372 reset your PIN.

Data allowances refer to any caps or usage limits imposed by the broadband plan. EPB has never imposed a data cap and customers will be able to see how these limits with other providers may vary depending on the plan and can affect a customer's internet usage and overall experience. Sometime between the time you order and your installation appointment we will mount an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) box outside of your home near your existing electric meter. There’s no need for you to be at home but we may need access to a part of your home that is fenced or houses a family pet. If so, we will conduct this phase during the most convenient time for you and your pet. During your scheduled installation appointment, someone age 18 or older will need to be home. Typical installations take from 2-5 hours. During this visit, we will be running fiber optic service from the outdoor ONT box to indoor connections designated for internet, TV and/or phone service. When installation is complete, all work areas will be cleaned and returned to their original state. Our EPB Fiber Optics technicians will transfer your email contacts.

There is no limit to the amount of content you can record and keep for up to nine months However, keep in mind each recording will be automatically deleted as it reaches nine months on your DVR.

Smart Net Plus lets you connect to your Wi-Fi in three different ways.
“Home connections” allow unlimited access to all devices on your network. You should only connect your own devices using this password, and share it exclusively with people you completely trust.
“Guest access” is limited to internet connectivity and devices that you select. For example, you can allow guests to connect to your media streaming device in your guest room, but block connections to all other devices.
“Internet only” means the device can access the internet, but it can’t connect to other devices on the Wi-Fi network.
No one knows how much or how little access you’ve given them unless you share this information. Your guests can connect to the same network name you’re connected to, but their Guest password enforces the customizable privacy settings you selected.

The HomePass app, router, extenders and other premium features only work with the new Smart Net Plus service and equipment. To answer an incoming call while on a call, press the “Flash/Talk” button. To temporarily deactivate call waiting for a single call, dial *70 before dialing the number. To turn off call waiting during an active call, dial *70 then press “Flash/Talk.”
If we do not receive payment by the 16th day after your billing date, a late fee will be added to your balance, and your account will be considered delinquent. The late fee is 5% on the first $250.00 of the amount owed, and 1% on the remaining balance above $250.00. A reminder notice will be mailed, indicating the amount of payment due. Payment must be received by EPB Electric Power within seven days of this reminder notice in order to avoid disconnection of your service. Because of many factors, TVA’s power rates fluctuate. One factor is TVA’s total monthly fuel cost, which is a mechanism used to recover the cost of fuel (like coal and natural gas) needed to generate power. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal program created by Congress as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and managed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Among other things, this program helps qualified households pay for connectivity services such as internet plans. The program extended and modified the more temporary Emergency Broadband Benefit. The ACP stopped accepting new enrollments as of February 7, 2024.
The Affordable Connectivity Program can be applied to the cost of a bundle of services that includes internet. If your bundle also includes Fi TV service, you will be responsible for that portion of your bill, as well as any charges that are more than the monthly benefit. You will receive emails for when your bills are due. They include the billing amount, due date and a link to paying them online. You can also access previous bills electronically. Make a one-time payment using a credit or debit card or pay by phone or in person or set up autopay for automatic monthly payment.
The best way to test your speed is through the Smart Net Plus accompanying HomePass app's speed test, which will reflect the most accurate wireless speed. Speed tests are always most accurate at the ethernet cord coming into the home, due to the many variables involved in wireless speed testing. Also, many individual connected devices (including smart phones) can't utilize 2,500 Mbps. Speed test results can vary for several reasons depending on the test you use and how many other devices may be connected to your Wi-Fi.
Since the EPB Fi TV app no longer requires a set top box, you will use the remote that comes with your streaming device or smart TV to control Fi TV – just like you do with streaming services like Netflix or Hulu.

If you’re still unhappy with your service, you can cancel your service at any time and return all pods associated with the account. There will be a $100 charge for each router/extender that is not returned.

For example, your account may be billed for usage between March 10 and April 9 (your April billing cycle), whereas the calendar month for April is April 1 to April 30.

The Fi TV Entertainment Box functions a lot like the traditional set top box you may be using now, with the very same channels. The remote is similar to the one you’re using today, and includes numbers that allow you to go directly to a specific channel. The channel guide is very much like the one you’re accustomed to, and navigates much like your current Fi TV plan. The main difference is that instead of your Fi TV plan being delivered over an ethernet line to your set top box, it's now delivered over the internet to the Fi TV app on your Fi TV Entertainment Box. In fact, the Fi TV Entertainment Box is so similar to your current TV experience, you won’t even realize you switched.
The Total Monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment is determined by the cost of the natural gas, coal and other fuels used to generate your power.
